Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga has hosted the Elders Limited board as part of a partnership agreement designed to advance agricultural innovation, sustainability and education.
This visit stemmed from a memorandum of information in March, a collaboration focusing on agricultural initiatives, including the establishment of the BioSolutions Innovation and Knowledge Hub, which is managed by the University’s Agribusiness Research and Business Park (AgriPark).
Charles Sturt chancellor Dr Michele Allan says the university is proud to welcome Elders to work together to shape the future of Australian agriculture.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of the next generation of agricultural leaders,” Dr Allan says.
“Our cutting-edge infrastructure and industry-led research are driving innovation in agriculture and this visit highlights the role our university plays shaping a sustainable and productive future.”
Elders representatives toured CSU research facilities, including the Feedlot of the Future and the Rhyzolysimeter and learnt about the BioSolutions Hub, which will foster advances in sustainability and productivity.
AgriPark executive director Nick Pagett says the BioSolutions Innovation and Knowledge Hub represents a leap forward in how to bring agricultural science to market.
“Elders’ visit is a key step in building collaborative solutions which will benefit producers, industry, and the environment alike,” he says.
“Collaborations like this ensure our work remains relevant, applied, and deeply connected to the future needs of the agricultural sector.”
Elders managing director and chief executive Mark Allison says research collaboration to build confidence and support Australian farmers to capture opportunities from the emerging biosolutions market is just the beginning of the opportunities between Elders and CSU.
“Partnering with its independent and scientific expertise, the Elders team of agronomists, livestock production advisors and rural products specialists will gain enhanced access to and engagement with the latest cutting-edge agricultural research across a wide range of fields,” he says.
