Fruit growers around Australia can expect an exciting development from FMC in the month of August. Their new insecticide, Altacor X-Force will be available at selected agency outlets nationwide.

Altacor X-Force is the logical evolution from Altacor Insecticide, says FMC strategic product manager Leandro Posteraro.

“It contains the active ingredient Rynaxypyr which is trusted by growers that have been dealing with lepidopteran pests in orchards for many seasons.

“We are now working on the next stage of the evolution with Altacor X-Force. It is a high load water-dispersible granule formulation with a strength of 700 g/kg of Rynaxypyr. This will help growers to maintain a critical advantage against lepidopteran pests.

“Altacor X-Force offers the same pest spectrum and activity as Altacor Insecticide but with a much lower use rate. The new formulation offers improved mixing qualities and less packaging.

“Growers will spend less time handling and hauling containers to and from the orchards, and less packaging to dispose of. Overall, Altacor X-Force enhances growers’ productivity whether it’s in the form of time, fuel savings or managing waste.”

Altacor X-Force is registered for control of important lepidopteran pests in pome and stone fruit, almonds and grapes.

“Altacor X-Force delivers rapid protection against codling moth, oriental fruit moth (OFM), carob moth and light brown apple moth (LBAM) while having a minimal impact on many important beneficial insects,” said FMC product development manager, Geoff Cornwell.

Last season, FMC established local commercial demonstrations with Altacor X-Force in Victoria, where the focus was to share the efficiency of the product in the most critical crops with growers. When conditions at these pear and almond demonstration sites became challenging Altacor X-Force was put to the test but it held its own under tough conditions.

“These commercial demonstrations were able to provide growers with firsthand experience to see Altacor X-Force in action at their own locations,” said FMC area business manager, Greg Bennett.

“When Altacor X-Force launches in the spring of 2022, Australia will be the first country to introduce this new and exciting formulation,” Mr Bennett said.

“Once again, we are delivering a critical new tool and continuing to provide Australian growers with cutting edge technology for their insecticide management program, helping them achieve superior control of pests and outstanding fruit quality.”
