Applications are now open for the Corteva Agriscience Climate Positive Leaders Program for 2022, and this year it is bigger and better than before.

The program is a nomination-based farmer and grazier recognition initiative designed to showcase early adopter producers who are successfully implementing, scaling and sharing climate positive practices.

The program will give the selected global and regional leaders tools and opportunities to broadly share their experiences and help accelerate the adoption of climate positive practices. The nomination window is open from now to November 30, 2022.

Due to a strong interest in 2021’s program, this year the number of countries taking part and the number of recipients has increased, further extending the program’s reach, says Rob Kaan, managing director, Corteva Agriscience Australia.

Ten Global Leaders and 12 Regional Leaders will be selected from eligible countries around the globe, being Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, India, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Entrants will be judged by a panel of agriculture industry leaders based on program criteria. Farmers can be nominated by local or regional grower groups, non-profit organisations, universities, field or sales representatives, or other technology partners.

Mr Kaan said farmers are among the most committed and important stewards of the land. “We want to recognise exceptional leaders around the world who are meeting their yield and productivity goals while successfully advancing on-farm climate positive agriculture and provide them with a platform to share their experiences.”

The Global Leader recipients will receive a lifetime membership to Global Farmer Network (GFN), training and in-person participation in a Global Farmer Roundtable.

Regional Leader recipients will receive virtual training and will be recognized as GFN Fellows. Both Global and Regional Leaders will have opportunities to engage with agriculture leaders and the ability to utilize a global platform to share their experience with other farmers.

Jake Ryan, the Australian global leader from 2021 is a mixed cropping/livestock producer in Manjimup, Western Australia. On his farm he is using holistic grazing, minimal tillage, cover cropping, and mineral nutrition to produce a wide variety of winter vegetables, cereal and oilseed commodity crops as well as livestock.

Mr Ryan said Corteva’s Climate Positive Leaders Program is an amazing program, and it was a privilege to be chosen for it.

“This program helps highlight farmers that have successfully implemented climate positive practices and make them known to the wider community.

“By doing so, it helps increase the rate of adoption as it can provide other farmers a mentor or a starting point, increasing the amount of success farmers have when they first adopt climate positive practices.”

Mr Kaan said the 2022 Climate Positive Leader Program amplifies the voices and experiences of farmers who are advancing climate positive on-farm practices.

“Agriculture plays a vital role in addressing the environmental, economic, and social health of our planet.”

“Sustainability is embedded in our business, and we work to put everything we do through the filter of good for farmers, good for the planet and good for people.”
