Boehringer Ingelheim has a new head of animal health for Australia and New Zealand.

Amanda McAvoy started the role in November.

Previously global business manager and interim head of global strategic account management – pets, for Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health global office, Amanda has extensive animal health experience, having worked for Boehringer, Merck (MSD) and Merial in the past 25 years.

Before her role in Ingelheim, Amanda led the US equine business, which is a significant market for the company.

She will relocate to Sydney with her husband, and her two adult children will remain in the US, where they are working and studying.

Ed Hollywood, general manager for Boehringer Ingelheim Australia and New Zealand welcomed the new leader.

“The appointment of Amanda represents the importance of the ANZ market to our global success,” Ed says.

“Australia is now the number two Boehringer market worldwide for pet health, and in New Zealand Boehringer was the fastest growing market last year,” he says.

“Amanda brings a wealth of global experience and a strong track record in commercial strategy, marketing, and business development and is well positioned to continue the local companies strong trajectory of growth.”
