Fungal diseases are one of the most persistent and costly challenges for growers across various crops.
Left unchecked, these pathogens can devastate yields, reduce product quality, and impact the long-term health of soils and plants alike.
Now, with Peridot 500SC from Colin Campbell (Chemicals), growers have a reliable, broad-spectrum fungicide that delivers strong, lasting protection, right when and where it’s needed most.
Built to protect
Peridot is powered by fluazinam (500 g/L), an innovative active from the pyridinamine class of fungicides.
It’s a Group 29 fungicide – the only one of its kind currently registered in Australia, making it a valuable resistance management tool in integrated disease control programs.
Colin Campbell national sales manager Ramsay Zreikat said Peridot is a protective fungicide that delivers outstanding residual control.
“It’s designed to sit on the plant surface, where it forms a protective barrier that prevents fungal spores from germinating,” he says.
“This means it works before the disease gets a chance to take hold.” Unlike systemic fungicides, Peridot doesn’t move through the plant. Instead, it forms a robust shield which remains active over time, making it an ideal fit for high-risk periods and disease-prone environments.
Performance across key crops
Peridot is already proving its worth across a wide variety of horticultural crops, including vegetables, grapevines, strawberries, and potatoes.
“In vegetables, Peridot is particularly effective against club root,” Ramsay says.
“It can be applied as a seedling drench or incorporated into the soil as a band treatment, giving young plants the best possible start,” he says.
In vineyards, Peridot is used during dormancy to help manage Phomopsis cane and leaf blight, as well as Eutypa dieback, a common problem in humid regions that can seriously affect vine health and fruit quality.
Strawberries, which are notoriously vulnerable to fungal disease, also benefit from Peridot’s surface-protective action.
It’s approved for use under APVMA Permit PER83871, and is widely used in nursery stock, runners, and plug plants.
Growers of apples and potatoes are also turning to Peridot.
It provides effective protection against white root rot in apples and defends potatoes from threats like late blight and sclerotinia during early development and tuber formation.
Practical and easy to use
Peridot is available in a convenient 5L liquid SC formulation, designed for ease of mixing and application.
It’s compatible with many commonly used fungicides and fits seamlessly into existing spray programs.
“Peridot gives growers a great mix of reliability, crop safety, and cost-effectiveness,” Ramsay says.
“We’re seeing strong demand in the field, particularly as growers look for sustainable, long-term solutions to fungal disease pressure.”
