With a focus on bringing new solutions to the Australian market, UPL Australia has announced key appointments to its sales team to support their continuing growth.

Country head of UPL, Michael Caldwell, says the appointment of Paul Reynolds as head of sales will provide valuable support to the Australian team as UPL look to bring new technology into the cereal, canola and viticulture markets.

“With the successful launch of Prowess fungicide late last year, avocado farmers now have access to ammonium phosphite for phytophthora control, offering several advantages over current products,” Michael says.

“We are looking to follow its ready adoption in the market with the launch of a new bio-fungicide in the grape market later this year,” he says.

“Key to the successful adoption of new technology is our sales team, working with retail stores and agronomists to bring these products to farmers.

Paul has held senior positions at Elders for the past 13 years, most recently as national category manager for crop protection.

Before that he worked at Chemtura, initially as a sales agronomist before becoming marketing manager after starting his career as an agronomist with Purse house Rural in Quirindi, NSW.

“I am passionate about Australian agriculture,” Paul says, “and I believe UPL has an exciting future here in Australia.”

“Investment in brands, new technologies and bio-solutions globally in combination with local development and extension work has allowed the UPL Australian business to offer customers a broader range of solutions and new product technology,” he says.

“I’m excited to join UPL for its next growth phase and look forward to supporting retail customers as we continue to expand our range.”

UPL Australia has also named Jacob Heard as sales manager for southern NSW.

Hailing from Meredith in Victoria, he brings a broad knowledge of the ag industry, with hands-on experience in Merino wool production, beef cattle and cropping, as well as beekeeping and retail agribusiness.

With a background in primary production, he was a 2020 graduate in agricultural business and management. Following his studies he worked for Ecrotek, a leading supplier of beekeeping equipment, most recently in a national sales role.

Passionate about farming and agriculture, he is active in the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW and is a non-executive director of the Future Farmers Network.

Now living in northeast Victoria and working in southern NSW Jacob says he is looking forward to being part of the UPL team.

“I’m quickly learning the intricacies of the crop protection market and am really looking forward to working with and supporting customers in my region,” he says.

Lachlan Broad

UPL has also welcomed Lachlan Broad as sales manager for western Victoria.

Based in Geelong, Lachlan brings a robust skillset in agriculture, crop protection, agronomy, and seed production.

Previously sales and product development manager for New Edge Microbials, he has an extensive sales and technical background from former roles at BASF, Seedmark and Bayer Crop Science.

“I’m looking forward to working in the UPL Australia team, drawing upon my experience to offer exceptional support to UPL customers and the farming community.”
