Farmers looking to boost winter feed production without compromising quality can now turn to a proven solution: Vicchem’s Gala Growth Regulator.

Results from an independent Tasmanian trial show Gala delivers outstanding dry matter increases when applied to a range of annual winter pasture grasses.

An independent Tasmanian trial conducted by Tim Walker of Walker Ag Consultancy evaluated the performance of Gala Growth Regulator against a generic glycol-based gibberellic acid (GA3) product and an untreated control across three pasture species: annual ryegrass, Italian ryegrass, and perennial ryegrass.

Applied at 80 mL/ha across three key growth stages (July 13, August 26, and September 30), Gala demonstrated exceptional increases in total dry matter for Italian and annual ryegrass. 

Perennial ryegrass, however, did not respond significantly within the first six months after planting.

“Based on the replicated results of this trial, gibberellic acid significantly increased the dry matter of annual ryegrass, as well as Italian ryegrass, without reducing feed quality,” Tim says.

“While both Gala and the generic product increased production over the control, Gala consistently delivered more dry matter,” he says.

Notably, Gala produced 1,800 kg/ha (DM) more on Italian ryegrass and 2,600 kg/ha (DM) more on annual ryegrass compared to the control.

Gala Growth Regulator is a non-flammable, non-poisonous liquid formulation of GA3 that incorporates Vicchem’s proprietary Hasten Technology, which enhances uptake through the waxy cuticles of target plants for improved efficacy.

The trial results confirm Gala, when used at 80 mL/ha with Vicchem's Deluge Low Foam at 100 mL/100 L water, provides a strong economic return and is a highly effective tool for boosting winter pasture productivity across responsive annual grass species.
