In an industry where safety, compliance and environmental responsibility are paramount, ongoing education is essential.

In an industry where safety, compliance and environmental responsibility are paramount, ongoing education is essential.

Agsafe is responding to this need with the development of a new training course tailored specifically for distribution centre staff handling agricultural and veterinary (AgVet)chemicals.

Set to open for enrolments in the coming months, the AgVet chemical distribution centre course has been designed in consultation with industry to address the innovative operational and safety risks faced in these environments.

The course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and practical tools needed to manage chemicals safely, responsibly, and in accordance with current legislation and best practice guidelines.

The training is grounded in the principles of risk mitigation, workplace health and safety (WHS), and regulatory compliance.

It provides a comprehensive overview of chemical hazards and how to manage them effectively – from understanding the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) to ensuring the correct interpretation of product labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

The curriculum covers critical areas such as:

•WHS responsibilities and risk management frameworks.

•Identifying hazardous chemicals and understanding their health impacts.

•Safe storage practices, including segregation of incompatible products.

•Legal requirements for transporting Dangerous Goods under the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code.

•Emergency response planning for fire, spills, first aid, and evacuation.

This course reflects Agsafe’s continued commitment to evolving training programs to meet the needs of the industry.

As the supply chain adapts to regulatory changes and increasing scrutiny around chemical management, ensuring distribution centre personnel are equipped with the right knowledge is vital.

The AgVet chemical distribution centre course is particularly relevant for warehouse and logistics workers, compliance managers, and safety officers responsible for the handling, storage, or transport of AgVet chemicals.

By completing the course, participants will be better prepared to uphold safety protocols, reduce the risk of incidents, and contribute to a culture of responsible chemical stewardship.
